Perfect for Seuda shlishit when long summer Shabbat dinners call for an elevated bread option. An easy recipe that comes together in a stand mixer, enhanced by fresh cilantro for color and flavor.

What you need

sugar

2 tsp sugar

garlic

10 clove garlic

flour

5 cup flour

butter

½ cup butter

warm water

1 cup warm water

oil

4 tbsp oil

cilantro leaves

½ cup cilantro leaves

dry yeast

2 ½ tsp dry yeast

salt

1 tsp salt

apple juice

1 cup apple juice

Instructions

1: In a stand mixer, proof yeast with sugar and water. Once bubbly, add apple juice, salt, oil, and flour.

2: Knead for 10 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

3: Preheat oven to 350F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

4: Using balls of dough of about 30 grams each, form a strand. Flip it over your 3 fingers, then place one side of the strand inside to form a knot. Place on parchment. Repeat for all.

5: Melt your butter in microwave. Add your garlic and cilantro. Brush on each knot. You will have leftover mixture.

6: Bake for 35 minutes. Once out of the oven, brush more garlic mixture on top.
