Sweet Onion Meatballs

These sweet onion meatballs are a holiday staple that tastes like candy. Perfect for the new year and loved by kids, they're a family favorite passed down from my grandmother, who used to make them every holiday.

What you need

tsp oregano

tsp turmeric

tsp garlic powder

pepper

tsp paprika
tbsp oil

cup honey

cup water

tsp cumin
egg
Instructions
1: In a large skillet, saute onions with 3 tbsp of oil on medium heat for a few minutes, then bring down to a simmer until they are soft and caramelized, mixing every 15-20 minutes. This could take over 2 hours. 2: In a mixing bowl, incorporate meat, oil, spices, breadcrumbs, egg, and water. Do not overmix. 3: When the onions are soft, add honey and pomegranate syrup with about 1/2 cup of water and simmer for a few minutes. 4: Form meatballs and slowly start adding them to the sauce.
